1st Workshop on Technology Enhanced Medical and Healthcare Education (TEMHE'18)
Poznań, Poland, 9 - 12 September, 2018
The workshop on Technology Enhanced Medical and Healthcare Education (TEMHE) combines the proven theoretical background of informatics and pedagogy with an innovative application these concepts in teaching and learning practice. Elementary goal is present original scientific results in a form of prototypes, case studies as well as existing solutions, which have been already used for medical and healthcare education support. TEMHE provides a forum for sharing gained know-how and experience in particular domain of medicine and healthcare, pedagogy and informatics. The special attention is paid to:
- innovative pedagogy methods using scenario-based learning tools, virtual cases and patients enabling future physicians and healthcare professionals to simulate important steps in the diagnostic and therapeutic process before exposure to patients.
- transfer know-how and best practices from the institutions which have already gone through a successful implementation of authentic, motivating, competency-based learning styles into the medical curriculum.
- use the experiences gained in the exemplar study to create similar resources in different clinical attachment areas;
- best-practice methodology for achieving comparability of higher education quality including exemplar case study illustrating the conceptual way how these standards can be effectively integrated into the practice.
- use of proper data mining techniques and analytical methods, which can in-depth explore a medical and healthcare curriculum.
- innovative methodological background supported by web-based visualization tool for comprehensive evaluation and map of curricula with the use of modern information and communication technologies.
- ability to embed learning and teaching activities directly into learning platforms and systems including Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs).
Topics
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- application of multimedia teaching tools in practice
- curriculum management, mapping, modeling, and standardization
- data visualization and interactive reporting in medicine
- educational data mining and advanced analytical approaches
- learning management systems and MOOCs: new features implementation
- medical and healthcare data standards and nomenclatures
